Manual Machinist

Job Summary:

Motor Technology, Inc., a national leader in providing superior quality and value in electro-mechanical repairs and services to our customers, is seeking a Manual Machinist for our machine shop. Since 1981, we have been an integral part of keeping national industries up and running smoothly and efficiently. We are a family-owned company that builds, services, and sells industrial motors, controls, gearboxes, and related driven equipment for advanced electric motor systems. Our Machinists are responsible for performing the complex operations of machine tools to produce/fabricate precision parts for industrial motors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operations on engine lathes, vertical/horizontal mills, and vertical lathes
  • Interpret blueprints to determine critical dimensions and machine set up
  • Read micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring and test equipment as required
  • Set up the welder and perform welding tasks using GMAW, GTAQ, SMAW
  • Maintain low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings
  • Determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish
  • Safe operation of Forklift within the machine shop environment
  • Lifting and rigging of heavy components of various configurations and weights
  • Safe overhead crane operation
  • Adhere to all company EH&S and QMS processes
  • Other duties as required, including some disassembly/assembly, repair, and rebuilding of industrial equipment

 

Requirements:

  • Experience setting up and operating manual lathes and mills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Able to read and interpret Standard and Metric dimensions from blueprints
  • Able to perform basic preventive maintenance on machine shop equipment
  • Able to read micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring and test equipment
  • Good computer skills
  • Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

The following are not required, but highly desirable in a candidate:

  • Welding experience
  • Technical/vocational degree in Machining
  • Experience in CAD software
  • Experience with Conversation/Manual CNC machining

Predictive Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

Motor Technology, Inc., a national leader in providing superior quality and value in electro-mechanical repairs and services to our customers, is seeking a Predictive Maintenance Technician for our service department. Since 1981, we have been an integral part of keeping national industries up and running smoothly and efficiently. We are a family-owned company that builds, services, and sells industrial motors, controls, gearboxes, and related driven equipment for advanced electric motor systems. Our PM techs are responsible for performing predictive maintenance techniques on critical equipment to estimate when maintenance should be performed.

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Use vibration analysis equipment
  •  Troubleshoot vibration problems
  •  Collect and analyze equipment data
  •  Properly grease and lubricate equipment
  •  Inspect equipment for an indication of possible failure
  •  Identify equipment that would benefit from PM technologies
  •  Review collected PM data
  •  Participate in root cause analysis and provide insight with the predictive tools and data analysis
  •  Participate in the evaluation of analyses and make recommendations relative to findings regarding maintenance
  •  Maintain communication with all resources associated with PM activities
  •  Accountability for use and maintenance of systems used
  •  Support activities to ensure timely, effective, and efficient service to customers
  •  Support PM activities by building rapport with site customers
  •  Follow a daily customer site route using a company vehicle
  •  Adhere to all company and customer Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality Management protocols
  •  Other duties as required

 

Requirements:

  •   Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
  •   Strong computer skills
  •   Able to work overtime
  •   Ability to work independently
  •   High School diploma or GED equivalent
  •   Valid Driver’s License

The following are not required, but highly desirable in a candidate:

  • Knowledge of AC/DC electric motors and other rotating equipment
  • 1-2 years of vibration analysis
  • Vibration level 1 certification
