2nd Shift Electric Motor Mechanic

Motor Technology, Inc., a national leader in providing superior quality and value in electro-mechanical repairs and services to our customers, is seeking an enthusiastic and focused Outside Sales Territory Manager to manage the relationship between MTI and the manager’s assigned group of customers or territories. Since 1981, we have been integral in keeping national industries up and running smoothly and efficiently. We are a family-owned company that builds, services, and sells industrial motors, controls, gearboxes, and related driven equipment for advanced electric motor systems. Our Outside Sales Territory Managers achieve sales and profit objectives through a consultative selling approach and through leveraging existing relationships to grow and expand sales and market penetration.

Responsibilities:

    • Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
    • Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (AC or DC).
    • Disassemble electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
    • Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including, but not limited to: parts washers, steamers, caustic tank, glass beaders, etc.
    • Measure for or note the proper placement of parts. Correctly requisition needed parts.
    • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electromechanical assemblies, including, but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.
    • Retest reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
    • Complete required forms on a computer system for each job accurately.
    • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment as needed.
    • Lift (using a forklift or overhead crane), tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties.
    • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to understand, perform, and retain skill-related training and operational and safety procedures
    • Good computer skills
    • Provide tools and toolbox

Manual Machinist – 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shift

Since 1981, we have been integral in keeping national industries up and running smoothly and efficiently. We are a family-owned company that builds, services, and sells industrial motors, controls, gearboxes, and related driven equipment for advanced electric motor systems. Our Machinists are responsible for performing complex operations of machine tools to produce/fabricate precision parts for industrial motors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operations on engine lathes, vertical/horizontal mills, and vertical lathes.
  • Interpret blueprints to determine critical dimensions and machine setup
  • Read micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring and test equipment as required
  • Set up the welder and perform welding tasks using GMAW, GTAQ, SMAW
  • Maintain low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings
  • Determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish
  • Safe operation of Forklift within a machine shop environment
  • Lifting and rigging of heavy components of various configurations and weights
  • Safe overhead crane operation
  • Adhere to all company EH&S and QMS processes
  • Other duties as required, including some disassembly/assembly, repair, and rebuilding of industrial equipment

Requirements:

  • Experience setting up and operating manual lathes and mills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Able to read and interpret the standard and metric dimensions from blueprints
  • Able to perform basic preventive maintenance on machine shop equipment
  • Able to read micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring and test equipment
  • Good computer skills
  • Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

The following are not required but highly desirable in a candidate:

  • Welding experience
  • Technical/vocational degree in Machining
  • Experience in CAD highly
  • Experience with Conversation/Manual CNC machining

Since 1981, we have been integral in keeping national industries up and running smoothly and efficiently. We are a family-owned company that builds, services, and sells industrial motors, controls, gearboxes, and related driven equipment for advanced electric motor systems. In addition, our Mechanics are responsible for performing repairs on various kinds of electromechanical equipment. Our Mechanic Apprentices are part of a 5-year program in which they gain valuable hands-on experience.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand, perform, and retain skill-related training and operational and safety procedures
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to provide and purchase necessary tools and toolbox
  • Completion of a trade or technical program preferred, but not required
